Appeal Assistant

Program/Department: Fund Development
Location: Winnipeg

Purpose:

  • Assist the Fund Development Team in organizing community events during International and Domestic Disasters.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Be available when a disaster strikes to help coordinate the influx of community support.
  • Understand the dynamics of how community fundraisers are operated in our organization and be able to communicate that to others.
  • Receive and record information from incoming calls.
  • Distribute fundraising materials to individuals by mail or email. 
  • Assist with the coordination of speakers or volunteers attending events. 
  • Follow up with event organizers to collect donations.

Time Commitment:

  • Casual days and occasional evening as required.
  • Commit to a minimum of one year

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

Requirements:

  • Understand and support the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
  • Completion of successful Criminal Records and Child Abuse Registry Checks.
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence if position requires.

Training & Orientation:

  • Intro to Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
  • Intro to Disaster Services.
  • Fund Development training as required.
