Red Cross responding to Super Typhoon in Asia

Typhoon Megi

Typhoon Megi is bringing ferocious winds and torrential rains to the Philippines and is predicted to hit China and Viet Nam later this week.

Local Red Cross volunteers across Asia are working around the clock in affected communities evacuating people, assisting in search and rescue efforts and providing emergency first aid and distributing relief supplies.

The Canadian Red Cross is monitoring the situation closely and is ready to deploy emergency stock and personnel if needed.

The best way Canadians can help in times of disaster is to donate to the International Disaster Relief Fund. The fund acts as a lifeline to get help to where it is needed most in the world. Canadians can donate online, by telephone toll-free at 1-800-418-1111, or by contacting their local Canadian Red Cross office.
