At Your Door & On Your Street Campaign

The Canadian Red Cross is fundraising in your neighbourhood

Face-to-Face Fundraising Representatives will always:

  • Wear photo I.D. badge, Canadian Red Cross vests/uniforms, and have assorted Red Cross material
  • Will not solicit any cash donations
  • Will give out literature sparingly and only to those supporters who indicate strong interest in becoming a monthly donor
  • Will encourage individuals to visit the Canadian Red Cross website, provide contact information for future follow-up or provide information to become a monthly donor
Spring 2010 marks the beginning of the fifth annual Canadian Red Cross Face-to-Face donor recruitment in several cities across Canada.  The campaign is part of a national strategy to recruit new monthly donors.

“In the next several months, if you see young people wearing our red Canadian Red Cross vests and holding clipboards don’t be alarmed,” says Brian Holaday, Manager of Direct Marketing and Donor Relations for the Canadian Red Cross in Western Canada.  “They have been hired by us to bring in new monthly donors, who are extremely beneficial financially to the organization long-term.  These new monthly donors provide a stable, reliable source of income that we can count on for future growth.”

The Red Cross uses external partners to help us conduct this face-to- face activity.  Our contracted staff,  will be on the street, knocking on doors and on the phone informing potential donors about the Canadian Red Cross and all of the work Red Cross does both here at home and around the world.  While briefing the public on the work of the Canadian Red Cross, our field partners ask people to sign up to become monthly donors. Each person working on behalf of the Red Cross carries identification which clearly lets people know that their efforts are in support of Red Cross activities.

“The campaign has been a huge success over the past few years and continues to be an integral part of our Fund Development strategy to target a new demographic of donors we have not reached through other campaigns,” says Holaday.  “This represents a significant investment in our future.”

The campaign is currently taking place in the following areas:  Victoria, Lower Mainland Region (currently in areas of Surrey, Port Coquitlam, North Vancouver and Burnaby) Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, London, Kitchener/Waterloo, Ottawa/Kingston, and Halifax.
