Description |
|
The Canadian Red Cross HELP - Short Term Loan Service loans medical equipment (with medical referral) to people in need, on a donation basis. Equipment Maintenance volunteers ensure that clients receive equipment that is of the highest standard of safety by inspecting equipment and making adjustments and repairs as required. |
|

|
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Checks equipment for damage and performs routine maintenance where needed
- Replaces broken or worn parts as needed and removes usable parts from unrepairable equipment for re-use
- Ensures that all equipment is adequately labeled and numbered (for identification and inventory tracking purposes) and has been cleaned and sanitized before it is made available for loan
- Performs equipment cleaning and disinfection duties a minimum of 1 shift per month

Qualifications |
|
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (50 lb), i.e. wheelchairs
- Must enjoy working with people from varied backgrounds and have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of medical equipment is an asset
- Must be a minimum of 19 years of age and willing to submit to a Criminal Record Check

- “Introduction to the Movement” orientation to the Red Cross provided
- Task-specific training provided
