IT’S ABOUT THE CONTINUATION OF THE TRIBE

Pam Heavy Head, Blood Tribe

According to the last Canadian Census, First Nations, Métis, Inuit and urban Aboriginal peoples constitute around 4% of the population of Canada. Although this population is often over-represented in the statistics on HIV infection, the Tipi of Courage is part of a national movement that challenges misinformation and ignorance about HIV and AIDS by:

  • educating,
  • dispelling myths, and
  • challenging stigma.

The Tipi of Courage is a unique and innovative community-based initiative focusing on “being a Warrior”. Elders and traditionalists have worked with Tipi of Courage staff to create workshops and training that inspire children, youth and adults.
