Wal-Mart staff, representatives from the Canadian Red Cross and the public were in attendance as Wal-Mart Regional Vice President, Randy Gerrie, presented Canadian Red Cross Deputy Secretary General, François Couillard with a cheque for $1.4 million. “We would like to thank Canadians and Wal-Mart for their generosity in supporting the Canadian Red Cross,” said Couillard. “This was the most successful campaign in our history and the money raised will help communities if a disaster were to strike.” As the leading corporate sponsor of the Canadian Red Cross, Wal-Mart stores held special events during their annual fundraising campaign, including donations at the registers, hosting in-store charity drives and teaming up with suppliers to raise essential funds for the Canadian Red Cross. Funds raised will support local Red Cross disaster relief. To learn more about corporate partners like Wal-Mart click here.
