(August 20, 2007) - The Wal-Mart campaign is just shy of the half-way mark for funds to support Canadian Red Cross. Launched Thursday August 9, Wal-Mart customers have given an amazing $434,000 at tills across the country. At the end of the campaign, Wal-Mart will contribute matching funds up to $2,000 raised per store. “We’re thrilled with the response,” says Tim Hoswitchka, director of corporate relations at Canadian Red Cross. “This is truly a joint venture between Wal-Mart, its associates, and the caring customers who add a donation to their purchase to support Red Cross. This campaign proves that even small donations can add up in a hurry.” The Wal-Mart campaign runs until September 2 and has a goal of $1 million. Funds raised will stay in the community to support disaster preparedness and response activities.
