Ante Mortem Data (AMD)
Ante Mortem Data (AMD) is comprehensive information about the missing person that may help to identify them, bringing clarity and closure to many families of the missing. AMD may be provided by one or more people including:
- the person who last saw the missing person,
- someone who knows the circumstances under which they disappeared, or
- someone who knew the missing person well.
AMD may include details regarding:
- clothing,
- physical characteristics,
- medical and dental traits, such as old fractures, surgeries, and dental work, and
- personal effects carried by the person at the time of disappearance.
This data is then used to confirm findings of post mortem examination and DNA analysis of the human remains.
