The following volunteer programs are unique to the Newfoundland and Labrador Region:
Coats for Kids: Each fall, the Canadian Red Cross, in partnership with the VOCM Cares Foundation and the Association for New Canadians, helps provide warm winter coats to children and young people through this volunteer program. Coats for Kids is primarily offered in the St. John's area and has been in existence since 1996.
Operation Lost and Found: Disaster Services volunteers are lakeside each year at the Annual Royal St. John's Regatta to locate and reunite children who become lost with their parents and guardians. This program has won National Red Cross recognition for innovation in service delivery.
Glovertown Red Cross Youth: This program has won a National Humanitarian Service Award for Red Cross Youth. More than 100 youth volunteers in the community of Glovertown coordinate and deliver community events based on needs identified in their community. This youth group promotes the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent with energy and enthusiasm!
Seniors Programs: A number of Red Cross Branches throughout the Province host events for seniors at various times during the year. Social teas, community concerts, and bingo games are a few examples of Seniors Programs delivered by Red Cross volunteers.
