Volunteering

 


Health Equipment Loan Service (HELP) volunteers assist with the daily operations of these services.

Customer Service volunteers assist by responding to public inquiries regarding Health Equipment Loan and other Red Cross services and programs either in person or by telephone. They will also help with processing donations, computer data entry, word processing, mail outs and general clerical assistance.

Maintenance and Repair volunteers ensure that returned health equipment is kept in good repair.

Equipment Cleaners volunteers ensure that returned equipment is thoroughly cleaned and ready for use by the next client.

Transportation and Delivery of Health Equipment volunteers assist in the delivery and installation of medical equipment to client's homes.

"Working for HELP has kept me involved in the community since my retirement and gives me the opportunity to give back to an organization that, I think does amazing work both locally and overseas."

Domestic Disaster/Conflict Response volunteers work in partnership with government and other agencies to provide assistance to those affected by small or large disasters in Canada. Depending on the scope and severity of the Disaster/Conflict short term volunteers may be needed to assist the BC Coastal Region office in donor relations, community fundraising, internal logistics and public affairs.

Family Reunification volunteers work to reunite family members who have been separated during a large disaster such as an earthquake, flood or forest fire.

Disaster Management volunteers gain practical field experience by assisting Canadian or American Red Cross disaster response operations.

Restoring Family Links volunteers reunite members of the community with family members with whom they have lost contact because of conflict, disaster or for other compassionate reasons.

"Individuals and families facing personal and natural disasters need help coping with these tragic events. Knowing the Red Cross is there to help them, makes a world of difference to these people. I'm very happy to be a volunteer for an organization that helps bring sunshine on even the rainiest days."

International Disaster/Conflict Response volunteers assist the BC Coastal Region in responding to the public when disasters and conflicts occur internationally. Depending on the scope and severity of the Disaster/Conflict short term volunteers may be needed to assist the BC Coastal Region office in donor relations, community fundraising, internal logistics and public affairs.

Support Service volunteers assist with the overall operations of the Society.

Administrative volunteers assist by responding to public inquiries regarding Red Cross services and programs either in person or by telephone. They will also help with processing donations, computer data entry, word processing, mail outs and general clerical assistance. .

Financial Development volunteers assist in organizing and participating in fundraising initiatives.

Public Relations volunteers assist with the preparation of media kits and foster relationships with the media.

Facility volunteers help with the general maintenance of the building and garden.

Governance volunteers approve policy and provide leadership.

Community Education volunteers are trained to deliver workshops in the community.
