Malaria quick facts
> Malaria is a life-threatening parasitic disease transmitted by mosquitoes at night . The more times a person is bitten by infected mosquitoes, the greater their risk.
> Children are especially vulnerable and can die as quickly as 24 hours after first experiencing symptoms. A child dies every 30 seconds from malaria in Africa.
> Approximately one million people die from malaria each year and half a billion people are at risk.
> Although malaria is not always fatal to adults, the debilitating symptoms or the need to care for infected family members, prevents them from working–causing a serious economic burden on people already vulnerable to poverty.

Help us prevent malaria
The most proven and cost-effective way to prevent malaria is by sleeping under a long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito net. However, many of the families who need nets do not have the means to purchase one – which is why we need your help.
Each $10 donation to Malaria Bites covers the cost of a life-saving net, prevention and treatment activities, its distribution and the training of volunteers in African communities to provide ongoing malaria prevention education.
