Burundi malaria campaign - April 2010
Since 2003, the Canadian Red Cross has distributed over 6 million mosquito nets in Africa. In April, 2010, the Canadian Red Cross will coordinate another net distribution, helping to protect families by providing three nets per household. Over 521,000 nets will be delivered through door-to-door distribution with over 38,000 of those nets provided by generous Canadians.
This campaign includes Burundi Red Cross volunteer training, malaria prevention education, and home visits before, during and after the campaign to ensure proper net usage. The goal is to reach as many people as possible with free life-saving nets and malaria prevention information.
The Canadian Red Cross is grateful to our sister society, the Belgium Red Cross, for its contribution to this campaign.
