Each year, the Canadian Red Cross in Saskatchewan presents the prestigious Young Humanitarian of the Year Award and the Humanitarian of the Year Award to two deserving individuals at the Red Cross Power of Humanity Gala in Regina and two additional recipients at the Red Cross Power of Humanity Luncheon in Saskatoon.
The Red Cross Humanitarian Awards have been taking place in Saskatchewan since 2009. Read more about our previous award recipients.
The Canadian Red Cross Humanitarian Award and Young Humanitarian Award have three objectives:
- To document and officially recognize the spirit of humanity in Saskatchewan;
- To draw public attention to the full scope of humanitarian activity; and
- To inspire individuals to pursue humanitarian goals.
The Canadian Red Cross Humanitarian and Young Humanitarian of the Year awards will be presented to two individuals in Saskatchewan who have demonstrated the spirit of humanity in a local, national or international capacity by:
- Promoting mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace among all peoples
- Contributing to the alleviation of human suffering, protection of life, or the promotion of health
- Educating the public on the meaning and importance of humanity and human dignity
- Promoting respect for human beings
