Red Cross Youth Symposiums

Red Cross Youth Symposiums are two-day leadership training events for students in Grades 6 to 12.
Youth Symposiums are large group trainings, and provide a unique opportunity for students from multiple schools within a division to connect with one another and become certified as Youth Facilitators of either our Beyond the Hurt bullying prevention (Grade 6 and up) or Healthy Youth Relationships programs (Grades 7 and up).
Students who participate will gain knowledge and skills in the following areas:
  • Healthy relationships
  • Personal boundaries
  • Gender identity and sexual orientation
  • Media and stereotypical influences
  • Dating violence – physical, emotional and sexual
  • Dynamics and effects of bullying, harassment and discrimination
  • Effective uses of personal power to resolve and prevent bullying
  • Helping themselves and their friends
Our Red Cross programs support educational curriculum outcomes in health, social sciences, and the humanities. Youth Symposium participants will also develop critical self-awareness and skills in decision making, communication, conflict management, empathy, critical thinking, and social action to promote healthy relationships and safer schools and communities.
Should your school or division be interested in hosting a youth symposium or participating in one in your community, please let us know.
