Guyana Floods

Note: The following appeal is now closed.  You can support our ongoing work by donating to the Canadian Red Cross

Torrential rains since December has caused serious flooding in many parts of Guyana, affecting more than 150,000 people. Immediate needs are for shelter, first aid, potable water, chlorine, food and non-food relief items. In the longer term, health interventions for vulnerable communities will help to promote improved awareness regarding safe water and sanitation.  There will also be ongoing provision of psychosocial support.

Canadian Red Cross Action

To date, the Canadian Red Cross has transferred $100,000 to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent’s appeal to assist with the emergency relief phase of the operations.
