BC Fires

Note: The following appeal is now closed.  You can support our ongoing work by donating to the Canadian Red Cross

More than ten thousand people were evacuated when forest fires threatened their homes in British Columbia. Communities across the province were evacuated as firefighters battled the blazes around the clock and strong winds continued to fuel the fires.

The Red Cross responded immediately when the fires hit in early July.  Working closely with all levels of government, the Red Cross provided immediate assistance to those affected by the fires.   From prepositioned supplies of cots, blankets, and hygiene kits to support thousands of evacuees, to recovery assistance from trained caseworkers for those who returned home safely, the Red Cross supported those devastated by the worst fire season in BC.

The Canadian Red Cross is appealing for cash donations to help British Columbians affected by this disaster. Your donation will help people get back on their feet and allow the Red Cross to continue our work as fires continue to threaten communities across the province.

Canadians wishing to make a financial donation to the BC Fires may give online, call 1-800-418-1111 or contact their local Canadian Red Cross office. The 24-hour toll free line accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
