The Canadian Red Cross $50 Million Community Organization Partnership Program will fund a range of initiatives identified by community groups, municipalities, registered charities and other organizations affected by the Alberta Wildfires and to support local groups and organizations working with affected populations.
Consistent with the approach in past responses, projects and activities in support of Fort McMurray and other fire-affected communities will be community-driven and initiated by the community through an online application process.

Call for Applications
Applications for the Program have been accepted since June 2, 2016. Since then, both the Red Cross and the United Way have received numerous applications, many of which were to support emergency needs and re-entry needs. With the creation of the Community Partnerships Table, and as the emergency phase starts to wind down, the Red Cross and the United Way are establishing five upcoming Calls for Applications.
For the 2016-2017 year, these will be:
- September 26, 2016 up until October 16, 2016
- November 1, 2016 to November 30, 2016
- February 1, 2017 to February 28, 2017
- May 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017
- August 1, 2017 to August 31, 2017

To get started, you will need to register for the online portal. Once you register you will be required to complete two eligibility surveys. These will determine whether your organization and project are eligible for the Community Partnerships program.

Red Cross & United Way Community Partnerships Table
The mandate of the Community Partnerships Table (the “Table”) is to evaluate pre-qualified funding applications which have been submitted to the Canadian Red Cross and/or United Way of Fort McMurray and make strategic recommendations regarding those applications in a collaborative, transparent manner. Through this evaluation, Table members may also note trends in gaps, vulnerabilities and needs of the community. The Table may make recommendations to action these trends to the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee as representatives of community stakeholders.
The Table will meet to review applications which contain funding requests for $100,000 or more. For more information on the Community Partnerships Table, please click here.

As of August 3, 2016, paper applications that are mailed or emailed to us will no longer be accepted. If you have downloaded the application form, work plan and budget prior to this date, please register for the online portal to proceed with your application online. The online application contains updated forms that differ from the old paper forms.
