2018 British Columbia Fires

Thanks to the generosity of Canadians and the Government of B.C., the Canadian Red Cross will be working with individuals and families impacted by the 2018 BC Fires in the weeks and months ahead.

Support for Individuals and Families

Emergency Social Services through local authorities provides support for urgent needs while people are evacuated in British Columbia. Fire-impacted residents currently under an evacuation order are asked to go to the nearest reception centre to register with their local authority. Locations and additional information for evacuees are available online at www.emergencyinfobc.gov.bc.ca, or by calling the Emergency Social Services Call Centre at 1-800-585-9559.

If an evacuation order has been lifted in your community, you may be eligible for financial assistance from Red Cross to support needs as you move forward from the evacuation. Red Cross will be visiting impacted communities to meet with individuals and families for confidential one-on-one assessments. Financial assistance will be provided on a case by case basis, along with referrals to external supports as needed.
