For a strong national society

When disaster strikes in Haiti, the Haitian Red Cross and its staff and volunteers are the first to respond. After the earthquake on January 12, 2010, Haitian Red Cross volunteers immediately began providing first aid and supporting search and rescue activities, even as many of them were themselves deeply affected by the disaster.

For over a decade, the Canadian Red Cross has been committed to supporting the Haitian Red Cross and strengthening its disaster preparedness and response capacity. Ensuring that the Haitian Red Cross is the strongest National Society it can be is critical for rebuilding Haitian communities now and for years to come. The Haitian Red Cross’ response during the recent Hurricane Matthew testifies to its growing effectiveness.
