Announcing the new name for Authorized Providers
title

Important - AP name changeIn December 2008, we asked Authorized Providers (APs) across Canada to help us evaluate our delivery structure for Red Cross First Aid, and Water Safety programs. We received feedback from over 500 APs, volunteers and staff as part of our review. Over the past year we revisited all aspects of our Authorized Provider delivery model and developed a number of improvements. As a result the Red Cross is introducing minimal changes to the training delivery model, which will enable growth and sustainability in our First Aid and Water Safety programs.

As part of this revision process, we are pleased to announce a new name for our APs: Red Cross Training Partners. This term better communicates the relationship between APs and the Red Cross as well as our common goal of providing quality program delivery. We believe this name change will assist you, our Training Partners, in marketing your business to clients.
In the coming months Red Cross marketing tools, the AP logo and the AP website will all be updated to reflect this new name as we formally introduce the Red Cross Training Partner branding. You will be able to use the term “Red Cross Training Partner” once your new agreement has been signed and the updated tools become available.

The Authorized Provider website has been renamed to Training Partner Website. With this change there is a new URL that directs people to this site: www.redcross.ca/crctp. The old URL www.redcross.ca/apnet will continue to work as well for an indefinite period of time redirecting people to the newly renamed web page.

We are committed to helping you build, grow and develop your business. You will be provided with up to date information as we move forward to implement these changes. Please direct any questions you may have to the Contact Centre or your local Program Representative. Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Red Cross program standards and First Aid requirements
title

first aid requirementsTo ensure the Red Cross fulfills our commitment to legislator’s specific requirements must be followed. We wish to remind you, our valued Training Partners, of these conditions.

As per our standards, all course rosters must be submitted to Red Cross within 3 weeks of the course completion.  First Aid Training Partners are also required to maintain a copy of all rosters including the scheduled class hours, location used for class, student evaluations and any reports on class concerns. If a student is incomplete, the reason/concerns must be noted and retained. These records must be kept on file for 4 years. Additionally a list of Instructors as well as a copy of their current certification must be on file with the Training partners.  Training Partners will periodically be asked to send in a copy of the material above and to have it available for onsite audits.

We are striving to honour our commitment to quality and wish to thank you, our valued partners, for your continued support and diligence is this area. If you have any concerns or suggestions regarding quality delivery of the Red Cross First Aid programs please contact your Local First Aid Program Representative.

  • Triangular bandages

Bogus Red Cross e-mail scam
An E-mail currently circulating in Canada with the subject line "Join the Federation Now" claims to be from someone associated with the Norwegian Red Cross. Some versions have an MS Word document attached. It is a typical Internet fraud. The message is bogus.  Ignore and delete it, and be aware of significant virus and other malware risks from opening attachments to any questionable E-mail. There are numerous web sites offering tips on how to recognize and avoid being victimized by such frauds. An example is the RCMP website, www.phonebusters.com

It’s not too late - You can still enter to win terrific prizes in our national lifejacket day contest!

lifejacketOn May 20th, National Lifejacket Day, we are asking Canadians to join us in wearing their lifejackets for the duration of the day to raise awareness and encourage lifejacket use. Whether you are going to the bank, out for lunch, teaching a first aid course or picking up your child from school – wear your lifejacket and help make every boating outing this summer a return trip.

Training Partners who participate in this fun initiative are eligible to win one of three fun prize packs! Prize packs include Red Cross Swim towels, water bottles, lanyards with a whistle and breather key chains.

Prizes will be awarded for most creative picture, most participation and the most public engagement. Submit your pictures by May 31st to wz-contactcentre@redcross.ca to enter the contest. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact your local Program Representative.

To assist you in spreading this message the Red Cross has developed stickers and messaging sheets. The stickers simply say – ask me why I am wearing my lifejacket. Stickers and lifejacket handouts are available from the Contact Center at no cost.  Training Partners can order a total of 25 stickers.
