Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding across Western Ukraine, leaving thousands in urgent need of emergency assistance. The floods, the worst to hit the country in 200 years, have damaged 40,000 homes across 655 settlements and destroyed 30,000 hectares of farm land and 700 kilometres of roads. The six most affected regions are Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernvitsy, Zakarpattya, Lviv, Ternopil and Vinitsia.

Local Red Cross staff and volunteers have been working around the clock distributing food, water, clothing, hygiene articles and other necessities to flood victims. Once the immediate needs are met survivors will need help rebuilding their homes, communities and lives.
