Community Fundraiser Terms and Conditions

  • Applications for Community Fundraisers are valid for 3 months unless otherwise approved by Canadian Red Cross.
  • As a Community Fundraiser, hosting an independent event or fundraising initiative on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross, must agree to abide by the Canadian Red Cross’ mission, vision, values and the Seven Fundamental Principles as well as the rules and requirements outlined by the Canada Revenue Agency, Donor Bill of Rights, Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code and the Canadian Red Cross’ Privacy Policy
  • The Community Fundraiser must receive permission from Canadian Red Cross to use Canadian Red Cross’ logo/branding. Materials bearing the Canadian Red Cross logo must be approved by Canadian Red Cross prior to printing and distribution.
  • Community Fundraiser communications must clearly indicate that the event or activity is wholly independent of Canadian Red Cross and indicate the extent to which Canadian Red Cross will be the beneficiary of the event (i.e. gross proceeds, net proceeds, specific amount of proceeds).
  • Canadian Red Cross will not fund or reimburse expenses or be responsible for any financial losses or unsettled accounts should the Community Fundraiser’s activity not succeed financially.
  • Canadian Red Cross does not assume legal, financial or any other liability with regard to the Community Fundraiser’s activity being undertaken. Community Fundraiser’s will not hold the Canadian Red Cross accountable or responsible for any and all actions, causes of actions, claims, damages, losses, injuries, expenses, costs, charges and liabilities arising out of or in connection with the Community Fundraiser’s activity.
  • The Community Fundraiser’s activity must be carried out in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and it is the responsibility of the Community Fundraiser to obtain any necessary permits, licences and insurance required.
  • Canadian Red Cross is required to follow guidelines set out by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) when Issuing tax receipts and reserves the right to decide the eligibility for tax receipts. Community Fundraisers must not make any promises at any time on behalf of Canadian Red Cross with regard to provision of tax receipts.
  • Revenue from Community Fundraiser events or initiatives are to be submitted to Canadian Red Cross within 30 days of completion of fundraising.
  • Canadian Red Cross reserves the right to refuse or relinquish involvement with any Community Fundraiser without any liability or obligation.
  • The Canadian Red Cross Society has permission to use any photographs or video of a community Fundraiser’s event or initiative that are submitted by the organizer, or taken by a Canadian Red Cross representative, for recognition or promotional purposes in any media and territory in perpetuity.
  • While Canadian Red Cross will try to accommodate requests for a Canadian Red Cross representative or speaker to attend an event or cheque presentation, Canadian Red Cross cannot guarantee availability.
