The Red Cross and the Canadian International Development Agency worked together to improve the training of military troops in International Humanitarian Law.

In 1996 the Canadian Red Cross mourned the loss of one of our international delegates  Nurse Nancy Malloy and five other International Red Cross workers were killed during an attack on a hospital compound in Chechnya.
