​Ethiopia is currently experiencing a number of disasters, including drought and conflict, especially in Eastern and Southern Ethiopia are currently in the grip of a severe drought, the result of failed spring and autumn rains in 2016. The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is uniquely positioned to reach the most vulnerable people, who might not otherwise receive assistance after a disaster. The Canadian Red Cross is working with the Afghan Red Crescent Society to increase its ability to support Afghans affected by natural and man-made disasters.
