Walmart celebrates 20 years in Canada through supporting families in need

If you're planning a trip to Walmart in your near future, you may want to consider going tomorrow (June 28th) when the company shows its gratitude for 20 years in Canada. Tomorrow (Saturday), Walmart Canada is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Canada by holding Supporting Families in Need Day in Walmart stores across the country.

Photo of the Day: Prime Minister meets with Red Crossers

Prime Minister Stephen Harper met with Red Crossers and visited a Red Cross warehouse facility in Mississauga yesterday. He was there to make an announcement about the government contribution to the Typhoon Haiyan relief fund for the Philippines. The Prime Minister welcomed the generosity of Canadians who contributed over $85 million in eligible donations that are being matched by the government.

Children combine art and disasters with excellent results

A group of students from St. Andrew elementary school in Regina, Saskatchewan recently combined art and disasters, turning a school project into a successful fundraiser. The children investigated natural disasters throughout history, created a piece of art about their chosen disaster and creatively displayed the facts they discovered. The fundraising event brought in nearly $1,000 for the Canadian Red Cross!

Photo of the Day: Poinsettias in full bloom in Ontario

Many Red Cross branches in Ontario have received their annual order of poinsettias. The poinsettias are delivered to local businesses and residents in exchange for donations. Volunteers from Kingston like Bob Willis assisted in sorting and delivering over 650 poinsettias. The holiday poinsettia campaign raises money to support local programs like disaster management and first aid.
