The Canadian Red Cross is working closely with government partners, local officials and other agencies to help support the needs of
Syrian refugees arriving in Canada.
In Montreal, since December 12, the Canadian Red Cross has:
- Welcomed 6,000 refugees, with the support of the Government of Canada, at the Montreal Welcome Centre
- Distributed Red Cross blankets, teddy bears and winter clothes (over 32 000 items)
- Mobilized Red Cross volunteers in hotels where refugees are staying until their new communities are ready to welcome them
- Met arriving flights in Montreal with a team of volunteers
- Mobilized 532 Red Cross volunteers to welcome refugees
We will continue to help support refugees as they arrive and settle in their new communities in Canada.
