Local Nepalese staff including drivers and translators hired to support the Red Cross field hospital in Dhunche are getting first aid training this week.

Red Cross aid workers in Nepal are not only providing medical care, but want to impart new skills and build capacity within the local community as we blogged about earlier.

Red Crossers from Canada, the Philippines, and other countries are working alongside Nepalese healthcare workers and other staff in the remote community of Dhunche where the local hospital was destroyed by the earthquake. More than 2,400 patients have been treated at the Red Cross field hospital since it first opened about two months ago.
