Dhunche is a remote village located high in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal, several hours away from Kathmandu. This is where a team of Canadian aid workers have set up tents and medical equipment, part of the
Canadian Red Cross mobile field hospital, where they can provide medical care.
The Canadian team and supplies arrived in Dhunche via helicopter as the road was blocked. Accessing remote communities remains one of the challenges in delivering aid since the earthquake struck.
These photos illustrate the team setting up and beginning to treat people from the region. Some of them arrived from neighbouring villages with injuries sustained in the earthquake. The local hospital was severely damaged.
Canadians are encourage to donate to the
Nepal Region Earthquake Fund. The government of Canada will match eligible donations between April 25 to May 25, 2015.
