The Red Cross Round-up

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC: Recently, there was a surge of violence in the capital of Bangui.  When safe to do so, volunteers with the Central African Red Cross Society assist in transporting the injured to hospital. When violence flared again last December, staff and volunteers were mobilized to conduct search and rescue operations, gather and bury the dead, provide first aid for the injured, and transport others to hospital for further treatment.

UGANDA/DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO: In May, nineteen Congolese children, separated from their families by fighting in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and for the past two years living in a refugee camp in Uganda, were successfully reunited with their families, thanks to support from the ICRC and the Uganda and DRC Red Cross Societies.
