Video: Local nurses saving lives in Sierra Leone

“It is my job to save the sick. It is my job to take this opportunity,” explains a Sierra Leonean nurse working at the Red Cross Ebola treatment centre.

While the Red Cross continues to mobilize support and call for trained healthcare personnel from Canada and elsewhere to respond to the Ebola outbreak, local staff and volunteers from affected countries in West Africa are playing important roles.

In this video, nurses from Sierra Leone share what motivates them to work at the Ebola treatment centre set up by the Red Cross and describe the personal protective equipment (PPE) they wear to keep them safe.

Canadians can donate to the West Africa Ebola Fund to support ongoing efforts to stop the spread of Ebola.
