Video: Volunteers share their experience from the Alberta flood response

Canadian Red Cross volunteers have been working in communities affected by flooding since the response began more than four weeks ago. In this short video recorded in the municipal district of Bighorn, Alberta, three volunteers describe their experience and the role the Red Cross has with on-going flood relief and recovery efforts.

To date, more than 900 trained Red Cross volunteers from Alberta and across the country have been supporting the disaster response. Hundreds of additional local volunteers signed up to lend a hand to the Red Cross in their community.  Initial efforts included distribution of 924,000 relief items handed out to people impacted by the floods, supporting shelters for evacuees and registration. Now that we're moving into the early recovery phase, Red Cross volunteers are conducting community outreach, talking to families one-on-one to assess their needs so that the right support is given to them.
