A week ago today, the Canadian Red Cross began responding to the flooding in Alberta. Immediately after the disaster, Red Cross staff and volunteers from across the country joined efforts and began to support hundreds of thousands of people affected. A week later, the ongoing efforts to provide relief to communities and families continues.

Thanks to the outpouring of generosity from so many Canadians, the Red Cross has been able to help those who most need help right now. Some Red Cross volunteer activities have included working at call centres, supporting shelters, and providing family reunification services and information on disaster financial assistance.

The following photos highlight efforts from coast to coast of Red Cross staff and volunteers, and people of the affected communities coming together. People are doing anything and everything to help out, whether it be donating their time or money, or even just showing their support.

In the past week, the Canadian Red Cross has been thrilled to see so many Canadian communities work together. To all those involved, thank you!

If you’re interested in volunteering, the Canadian Red Cross is now accepting online registrations from local volunteers who are interested in helping with distribution to communities affected by the recent flooding. Visit our website for more information.
