Photo of the Day: Red Cross staff wear pink to stand up to bullying

Pink Shirt Day Nova Scotia

Today, almost all provinces across Canada are celebrating Pink Shirt Day to stand up to bullying. Pink Shirt Day was originally organized by Travis and his friend David who distributed 50 pink shirts after a male student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt at school. Now in it's sixth year, Pink Shirt Day is celebrated on the last Wednesday in February. In Dartmouth Nova Scotia, and in many Red Cross offices across the Atlantic provinces, staff wore pink today to show their support for bullying prevention.

The Canadian Red Cross is committed to its work in bullying prevention through the RespectED program which works to educate children, youth, and adults in the prevention of abuse, bullying, violence, and sexual exploitation.
