Photo of the Day: Jordan and Lebanon offering a helping hand

Pictured above, a volunteer from the Jordan National Red Crescent entertains a Syrian child now living in Ajloun. In the wake of violence in Syria, thousands of refugees have crossed the borders into neighbouring Jordan and Lebanon. Recently the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies sent a team to Jordan where they met with many of these people fleeing from Syria to assess their needs and offer assistance. To date, over 208,000 people have been registered by the UNHCR in Syria’s neighbouring countries, with more than half of these being children. Visit the IFRC for more information on how the conflict in Syria has affected neighbouring countries.
