Photo of the Day: Comfort after the storm

Reception Centre in Truro

Here's an update on the flooding in Nova Scotia we mentioned in this blog post yesterday. Red Cross volunteers in the Truro area set up two reception centres and an overnight emergency shelter Monday to assist people affected by the heavy rain and flooding as a result of Tropical Storm Leslie. Volunteers also distributed comfort items to residents, including these comfy Red Cross blankets. In this photo, residents receive a visit from the provincial minister of Emergency Management, Ross Landry.

The waters receded quickly and Red Cross operations are wrapping up. Residents affected by flooding can stop by the Red Cross service centre in Truro to pick cleanup kits. EMO Nova Scotia also offers these tips for flood cleanup and recovery. Photo credit: Province of Nova Scotia
