We wanted to share this cute photo from the American Red Cross of Smokey the Bear who indicates that the fire danger in Montana was extreme. Thousands of people have been affected by the wildfires that have burned through several western states.
With the extreme heat and dry weather across Canada it is important that we are prepared for forest fires as well. The following tips will help you prepare:
- Know what the risks are in your community and follow instructions from local officials
- Make a plan for your family, including routes away from your home in case of an evacuation
- Have a household disaster preparedness kit containing key items you may need in an emergency
