Photo of the Day: Red Cross responding to BC landslide

Volunteer Rick Smith on his way to meet with residents impacted by landslides

Red Cross disaster response personnel, including volunteer Rick Smith from North Vancouver who is seen in this photo, travelled by helicopter along with staff from Emergency Social Services to reach people impacted by the deadly Johnson’s Landing landslide on July 12 in the Kootenay region of British Columbia. Some families have been cut off and can only be reached by helicopter or boat.

The Canadian Red Cross has been meeting with residents to assess their short and long term needs as a result of this disaster and is ready to provide assistance to families. The Canadian Red Cross is accepting donations to help those impacted by the landslides and other severe weather events in BC.
