How to decorate your home – the Red Cross way

There’s no question that many of us who work at the Red Cross bring our work home with us – you never do know when a disaster will happen. But, since joining Pinterest a few weeks ago, I’ve realized that many people literally bring the Red Cross home – by way of pillows, shower curtains, posters, art and quilts.

The Red Cross is undoubtedly iconic and recognizable, and for many of us, it’s a symbol of humanity. (Did you know that the Red Cross is actually the Swiss flag reversed?  Red Cross founder Henry Dunant is from Switzerland and use of the emblem was adopted in Geneva in 1864.) Adorning their homes with hand-crafted items is a way Red Crossers share those values in their space.
