East coast getting a blast of Leslie

Tropical storm Leslie is barreling toward Newfoundland and could pick up steam and regain hurricane status before it’s expected to make landfall tomorrow morning. Canadian Red Cross volunteers and staff across Newfoundland are preparing, as have many residents of Atlantic Canada.

Meanwhile, residents of Truro, Nova Scotia have been dealing with significant flooding as a result of heavy rain. These are some images shared on Twitter earlier today.

Red Cross volunteers set up reception centres in Truro and Bible Hill for residents who have been affected or evacuated due to flooding. There have been road and school closures in the area.
