Photo of the Day: Flash mobs and ripple effects

Every day, we publish a photo to show Red Cross at work across the country or around the world. Do you have a photo to share? Let us know!

When Norm Jakubowski travelled to Wilcox, Saskatchewan to educate the staff of Arthol Murray College of Notre Dame on the finer aspects of respect in the workplace, he was hoping the message would get through. It did.

Last month a group of senior students at the grade nine to 12 boarding school donned their pink “I’ve got your back” t-shirts and surprised their fellow students at an assembly with a flash mob complete with a dance and speeches encouraging students to say no to bullying. The event follows on the tails of a Pink Shirt Day event last April, where staff and students wore the same t-shirts and used sharpies to pen positive messages to each other on the back of their shirts. Red Cross has held Prevention In Motion workshops for the school division in the past. Norm Jakubowski, Violence and Abuse Prevention Lead for the Red Cross in Saskatchewan, says this is an example of “how the work we do has a ripple effect.”NotreDame_1
