Start 2011 off right: Volunteer!

Only a few days into the New Year, and many of us are trying to make good on our New Year’s resolutions. If you haven’t thought of any resolutions for this year yet, might I suggest volunteering?

If you are already a volunteer, thank you so much for all that you do.

If you are not, this is a good year to get started. This year celebrates volunteers as it marks the 10 year anniversary of the International Year of Volunteering.

Canadian Red Cross branches offer several volunteer opportunities from disaster response, delivering warm meals to elderly members of the community, to being a member of the local branch council to name a few.

To learn more about opportunities in your area, contact your local branch.

Meanwhile, check out this video created by our friends at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies specially for this year about volunteers. Happy 2011 everyone!
