#Wearit: Hitting the water with Amber Mac and her son

One drowning is too many. Already there have been too many reports of drownings across Canada.

That is why the Canadian Red Cross has teamed up with tech guru Amber Mac, her son, and the Toronto Police to help spread the word that drowning is preventable.

With the Civic Holiday long weekend coming, many families will likely be hitting the water; swimming pools, beaches and boating. We want you to have a fun weekend, but we want you and your children to be safe. One simple way to do that is to wear your lifejacket.

Have a look at this video and learn how to #wearit -- your lifejacket that is! Our water safety experts at the Canadian Red Cross always say: “it’s not enough to just have your lifejacket nearby. If you were in a car, you wouldn’t put your seatbelt on at the moment you were about to crash. It’s the same thing with a lifejacket – it can’t help you if you are not wearing it.”

Happy long weekend, everyone!

*Special thank you to Chris Dick at MGI Media for volunteering his time and expertise to produce this video; to the Toronto Police for sharing their knowledge and taking us out in their boat, Amber for taking time out to help us spread the word; and to Amber''s son for being so cute and loving his lifejacket.
