Timmins volunteer accompanying important Red Cross shipment to Pakistan

Canadian Red Cross volunteer, Carole McIntyre, has been given a special task.

She is en-route to Pakistan today with $1 million of emergency supplies to help with relief efforts following extensive flooding across the country, which has affected more than 14 million people.

The supplies, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), include hygiene kits, mosquito nets, blankets and tarps. Once in Pakistan, they will be distributed by local volunteers through the Red Cross Red Crescent Network in flood affected areas of the Swat Valley District.

Carole, from Timmins, is accompanying the shipment and will oversee the handover of the supplies to Red Cross personnel on the ground in Pakistan.

 Good luck!
