Introducing the tornado potato

We read about this culinary creation in a Toronto Star article written by Jennifer Bain this morning. We thought it would be perfect for Food Friday. It’s a potato in a spiral shape just like a tornado.

We don’t have a recipe for this, but basically you take a jumbo potato, peel it, cut it into one long corkscrew, stretched it over a skewer and deep-fry it. The "Tornado Potato" first came on the scene in Korea several years ago. It appeared for the first time at the Canadian National Exhibition only last year.

We think this might be a popular treat with Red Crossers.

It will be available at the T&T Waterfront Market in Toronto this weekend.
