Today is Red Cross National Lifejacket Day.

Every year in the news, we hear of drowning deaths that could have been avoided if the person was wearing a life jacket. So what’s the deal? Why don’t people wear life jackets?

I’m sure you’ve heard at least one person say that life jackets are “big, bulky and uncomfortable.” Well, we’re about to show you this just isn’t true anymore. Gone are the days of the puffy, orange life jacket! These days, there are so many fun, cool, light-weight life jackets and personal flotation devices to choose from.

We teamed up with our partners Mustang Survival, photographer Johan Campbell of Pikto Gallery and the team behind Women’s Post magazine to give you an idea of the great selection of lifejackets that are out there. We even found a floatation vest for your pet!  Check out this fun photo gallery.
