The Red Cross Round-up

The Round-up offers a weekly sample of what our Sister Red Cross Societies are working on around the world.

GUINEA-BISSAU: Some 30 volunteers of the Red Cross Society of Guinea-Bissau from various parts of the country, together with nurses working in emergency services in the capital's hospitals, will take part in an advanced workshop on first aid that will take place from 6 to 17 December.

HAITI: On Dec. 3, the Canadian Red Cross deployed its new field hospital to treat people who have contracted cholera in Haiti. The field hospital was created as part of the First Responder Initiative, a partnership with the Government of Canada.

WORLDWIDE: December 5 marked International Volunteer Day.   The IFRC joined other voluntary based organisations in a year long effort to highlight the role of volunteering in today’s world.
