Advisor, Volunteer Resources (2 positions)

Location: Ontario

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is currently seeking an Advisor, Volunteer Resources.

Reporting to the Manager, Volunteer Resources, the successful candidate will assist in the coordination of orientation and on-going training for volunteers as well as National Learning and Development initiatives. The candidate will assist program staff and volunteers with application and implementation of Society volunteer resource management practices including the system of maintenance of volunteer records and ensure their alignment with National standards and guidelines. The candidate will also support and advise the Branches/Regions on volunteer recognition activities and Awards programs.

  • In conjunction with program managers, staff and volunteers support the implementation and evaluation of target recruitment and on-going support activities for volunteers within a defined geographic area;
  • Supporting field staff/leadership volunteers in best practices regarding interviewing, screening and placement of volunteer applicants within a program or department, this may include Summer Students through the HRDSC programming as well as Special Placements e.g. Co-op students and/or special event and corporate volunteers;
  • Advising and supporting field staff on best practices and systems for maintenance of volunteer records,
  • Supporting the coordination of the National and geographic Volunteer Awards program in alignment with Red Cross policies and established guidelines; as well as recognition activities (both formal and informal).
  • Provide support and actively participate in the work of the Volunteer Resources Advisory Committee;
  • Integrating volunteer resources within the job’s scope of responsibility.
  • Following all policies and procedures as required to maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Performing other duties as required.

The minimum qualifications for this position are a community college diploma in Volunteer Resource Management or Social Services and one but less than three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working with volunteers is an asset, experience working with Raiser’s Edge is also an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Travel throughout the community will be a regular part of the job. Position may be required to work non-traditional hours; therefore, the ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, is a job requirement.
