Security Analyst
Permanent full-time (IS-5)
Location: Ottawa, ON or Toronto, ON
The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Security Analyst for our IS department.
Reporting to the Director, National Information Security, the Security Analyst is to provide information security support to the Society such as network perimeter security, security awareness, policies and procedures, internal IT auditing, security compliance and other information security duties to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Society’s information assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates security exposures and threats to advise on the level of security necessary to protect the information systems.
- Implement security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and other security software or devices as required.
- Assists in the coordination and operation of the risk management program that oversees the identification, quantification, and mitigation of information security vulnerabilities for the Society.
- Develops and delivers regular reports to management describing the state and status of existing threats, vulnerabilities, mitigations and other information security metrics.
- Network backup management.
- Anti Virus/ Spyware and security patch management.
- Assist in the development and rollout of information security policies and standards.
- Assists with the identification and selection of security technology.
- Assists with the Society’s information security awareness program.
- Responsible for alerting security management to security issues and making recommendations for resolution.
- Recommend, test requirements, success criteria and verification, and implement security hardware and software.
- Integrates volunteer resources and fund development within the scope of responsibilities.
- Participates in disaster planning, preparation and response as needed.
- Contributes to a healthy and safe working environment.
- Must be flexible and able to work long or non-traditional hours when the need arises.
- Measure the performance of the service provider and design improvements to processes, services and infrastructure in order to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.
- Performs other duties as required.

The minimum qualifications for this job are university degree and/or 5 years of job-related work experience.
