The Health Equipment Loan Program support staff person demonstrates outstanding client service as first point of contact with the general public. This position also provides program and administrative support for the Health Equipment Loan Program team in the Kelowna HUB.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides service to walk in and phone clients accessing and returning health equipment.
- Assists the HELP team in processing all health equipment requests.
- Maintains quality control by ensuring Red Cross quality assurance standards are met.
- Assists with training and supporting client service leaders and volunteers.
- Provides program support for volunteer recruitment, inventory management database, volunteer management database, and funding tracking system.
- Performs general administrative duties for the Health Equipment Loan Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum requirements for this position include secondary education (grade 12), with training in client service an asset and up to one year job related experience, or a combination of education and experience, and:
- Strong communication skills in English required; fluency is a second language an asset.
- Demonstrated outstanding client service skills required.
- Excellent computer skills are essential; proven data entry and database skills required. Microsoft office experience preferred.
- Experience working with volunteers preferred. Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector an asset.
- Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural issues an asset.
- Valid First Aid Certification an asset.
- Valid BC Drivers’ license is required.
- Familiarity with health equipment is an asset.
- This position is subject to a satisfactory criminal check.
- The applicant must be able to physically lift 50 pounds.
- Applicants must meet the criteria established by Service Canada funding, which includes:
- must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- must have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
- must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
The hire of this position will be pending funding from "Canada Summer Jobs".
