POSITION TITLE: Equipment Retrieval Clerk
VOLUNTEER ROLE: Service Delivery
DEPARTMENT AND/OR PROGRAM: Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP)
LOCATION: Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, 2B01, 11111 Jasper Avenue
TIME COMMITMENT: Minimum commitment of 6 months. Flexible shifts (minimum 3 hours) available Monday – Saturday, morning and afternoon.
PURPOSE:
The Canadian Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) loans medical equipment to people in need on a short-term basis. The Equipment Retrieval Clerk will place calls to clients who have overdue HELP equipment or who need assistance with obtaining permanent/long-term equipment.
REPORTS TO: HELP Coordinator
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responds to telephone inquiries.
- Refers clients to appropriate agency for permanent/long-term equipment.
- Calls clients regarding equipment that is overdue.
- Mails out postcards to clients with overdue or coming due equipment.
- Enters information into database.
- Assists with all functions of Health Equipment Loan Program as required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Compassionate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required.
- Security Clearance Check
REQUIRED TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
- Training provided.
- Introduction to the Red Cross & Red Crescent movement (mandatory for all volunteers).
WORK ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must enjoy working with people from varied backgrounds and have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 3 months
